BOULDER, COLORADO, October 21, 2003 - EnergyWindow®, a supplier of information-technology-based tools and consulting to manage the energy supplies used by large businesses, and the Worldwide Retail Exchange (WWRE), the premier, Internet-based, business-to-business exchange for large retailers and suppliers, today announced a strategic alliance for the WWRE to promote EnergyWindow's natural gas and electricity procurement services to its members.
Through this alliance, EnergyWindow will provide WWRE members with access to its efficient, cost-effective energy procurement process (an online request-for-bid system for procurement of natural gas and electricity), as well as related Internet-based tools and information for managing all phases of a company's energy supply program.
Ultimately, EnergyWindow will migrate its energy auction process to the WWRE's eRFx online bid system for WWRE members. Initially, however, WWRE members will use EnergyWindow's online bidding system to procure natural gas and electricity at more competitive rates.
According to Dr. Jack Mason, EnergyWindow chief executive, the partnership between EnergyWindow and the WWRE makes perfect sense.
"Large retail operations are spending far more than they should on the natural gas and electricity needed to run their multiple facilities," explained Dr. Jack Mason, chief executive of EnergyWindow. "This is either because they don't have the time or expertise to obtain competitive bids in areas where energy is deregulated, or because they have no information systems designed to track energy usage and make more informed strategic decisions. By gaining access to EnergyWindow's suite of online energy procurement and management products, large retailers can, quite simply, reduce the costs, risk and complexity of buying natural gas and electricity."
"In a time when retailer's margins are tighter than ever, the ability to save thousands or millions of dollars in energy supply purchases can go straight to a retailer's bottom line," noted Sally Herbert, CCO of the WWRE. "We have chosen to partner with EnergyWindow because of their 'best-in-class' approach to energy supply management and procurement."

EnergyWindow Offers Proven Process; Large Retailers Saving Millions
"The efficacy of EnergyWindow's model is supported by our previous successes," noted Mason. "For example, we have helped more than 20 internationally recognized companies and retail organizations significantly reduce their energy expenditures through our online request for energy bid system," he said.
According to Mason, EnergyWindow already has achieved significant successes with some large retailers that are WWRE members, including J.C. Penney and another large national retailer that is a WWRE member. "The combined total of these two entities' energy savings achieved from working with EnergyWindow totals more than $9 million.
